Forensic Vehicle Fire Investigation Course
Fire and law enforcement investigators will participate in live
vehicle burns to analyze fire times, patterns, and temperatures
using the scientific method and the systematic approach for
investigating vehicle fires through first-hand observations of
vehicle burns.
Participants will learn a comprehensive approach to
examination of vehicle electrical and wiring systems. Students
will also gain a working knowledge of all electrical safety
devices including fuses, breakers, and fusible links. The proper
documentation methods for a vehicle fire including evidence,
photographs, field notes and the written report will also be
covered. Information found in the 2011 edition of National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA) 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion
Investigation and the job performance requirements for a fire
investigator found in the 2009 Edition of the NFPA 1033,
Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators, will also be covered.
All course material will be provided on USB electronic media.

Vehicle fraud investigation requirements
Vehicle mechanical inspections after a vehicle fire
Bearing failure
Fluid Analysis
Speed Control Deactivation Switch
The relation between tire failure and fires
Hazards created by safety devices
Demonstration of arson, electrical, fluid,
mechanical, and friction-caused vehicle fires
Forensic Locksmith Examination
Vehicles included are big rig tractor, motorhome and cars
Audience:
This course is designed to provide practical application to
investigators in fire and law enforcement disciplines as well as
investigators in the private sector.
